Before exploring the topic on how to share a YouTube video on your Instagram story, we need to make a small introduction.
As a first step, if you are using a smartphone or tablet, you must download the YouTube application or access it via the browser, although the first option is more recommended. After completing the first step, you must search through the various videos available for the one you want to share.
Below the video window and the title will appear a bar with various functions, including the share button, marked with an arrow. By clicking on this button, you will be directed to a window where you can choose Instagram as the sharing channel.
At this point all you have to do is choose the contact with whom you wish to share the video and press the send button. Another way of sharing YouTube videos on Instagram is via the link to the video itself. If you are using any computer, you have to access YouTube from your browser and search for the desired video.
At the top of the page, you will see the URL identifying the page you are viewing. You can easily recognise it because it is a code starting with “https://”. Select it and copy it by pressing the right mouse button and clicking Copy.
You can then download the Instagram desktop application or access it via the web. To view the chats in the browser, you need to download a small extension. Now all you have to do is choose the chat you want, paste the link you copied earlier and press the Send button to forward the message.

How to repost a video on Instagram
Once you have learned how to share a YouTube video on Instagram story, we will focus on we will focus on the topic above.
As you browse through the stories and posts on Instagram, you often come across videos that you would like to repost, i.e., share on your profile, but you do not find a suitable function. This is because the famous photo social network, unlike Facebook and other online platforms, does not have a share button to repost videos made by other users. But all is not lost!
If you want to repost a video found in Instagram Stories, there are various solutions you can rely on: you can use a function built into the photo social network, which allows you to repost content in which you are mentioned, you can make a screen recording in order to ‘capture’ someone else’s Story or, again, you can use third-party applications that allow you to repost Instagram Stories. The choice is yours!
If you have been mentioned by a user in a Story, you can use an Instagram feature to repost the content quickly and easily to your account.
To do so, sign into your Instagram account via the official Android or iOS app and tap on the little house symbol on the left. Then scroll through the list of Stories at the top, open the content in which you have been mentioned and tap on the white Add this content to your story button at the bottom.
On the new screen that opens, customize the content in question, if necessary, using the appropriate Instagram functions and, when you are ready to do so, tap on the Your Story button to repost the content.
Recording the screen
If you have an Android device, you can record what happens on the screen using third-party apps such as ADV Screen Recorder or Rec Screen Recorder, which work on all terminals equipped with Android 5.0.
To perform screen recording with the apps in question, you need to launch them, and press the REC button immediately after launching the Story you are interested in on Instagram. When you have finished the video, press the Stop button. If any of the steps are not clear to you, see my guide on how to record the screen on Android.
If you have an iPhone updated to iOS 11 or later, you can record the screen using the screen recording feature that comes standard with Apple’s operating system.
To take advantage of this, start playing the story you are interested in on Instagram, then bring up the iOS Control Centre by swiping up from the bottom (on iPhone 8/8 Plus and above) or swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen (on iPhone X and above) and tap the REC button.
When you are done recording, go back to the iOS Control Centre and press the REC button to stop recording. The movie will be saved in the Photos app.
Once you have recorded the screen and captured the video you are interested in, you need to share it on Instagram: launch the social network’s official app on your Android or iOS device, tap on the little man symbol at the bottom right, tap on the (+) button located on your profile photo (top left) and tap on the thumbnail of the last content saved in the Gallery.
Then select the movie you are interested in and, on the screen that opens, click on the Share button located next to the heading Your story.
